City Hall Administration

The City Hall Administration is the central hub for all municipal activities in the City of Metropolis. The department is responsible for managing the city’s finances, overseeing public works, and ensuring that all city services are operating efficiently. The department works closely with the mayor and city council to develop and implement policies that benefit the community, and strive to make the City of Metropolis a great place to live, work, and do business. The administration office is open to the public during regular business hours and welcomes inquiries, feedback, and suggestions from community members.

As Mayor, my mission is to lead and govern our City to enhance public value and produce a sense of community.

We are to work collaboratively across all business units to create optimum efficiency, decrease wasteful spending, ensure public safety, and display in our service a value for the residents we serve. We will strive to keep Metropolis a city that celebrates our vibrant, historic, riverfront, full-service community that honors our past, celebrates the present, and embraces the future.

Together with the City Council, Supervisors, and Employees, we will serve with responsibility, ethics, professionalism, commitment, and teamwork to safeguard and enhance the public trust in City government.

City Clerk’s Office

The City Clerk performs duties as required by Illinois Statutes and City Ordinances. In addition to the required duties, the City Clerk also serves as one of the City’s FOIA officers.

The City Clerks Office is responsible for the processing and collection of utility billing, maintaining all records, ordinances, resolutions and official documents of the City.

Food Vendor License

The City of Metropolis currently permits food vendors to operate on private property in accordance with Ordinance 2012-12. Vendors offering to sell to the public, un-sealed, prepared foods that may be consumed either on or off the vendor’s premises first shall apply for a Local Food Vendors license. Applications should be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office.

City Attorney

The City Attorney serves as legal counsel for the City of Metropolis staff, elected officials and employees. This includes advising staff on legal issues, representing the City in legal proceedings, reviewing and preparing legal documents and drafting ordinances, resolutions, contracts, etc.

The City of Metropolis attorney can not provide legal advice to citizens.
