Dear Residents and Visitors of Metropolis,

 I am honored to address you as Fire Chief Micah Tolbert, representing the Metropolis Fire Department, an institution that has stood as a pillar of strength and service for over a century. Our journey, which began more than 100 years ago, has been one of unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of the citizens and visitors of Metropolis.

 Spanning nearly six square miles, our department covers a significant portion of this vibrant city, extending our commitment to providing fire and emergency services to almost six thousand residents. Our core values, encapsulated by the principles of quality, respect, integrity, honesty, accountability, and cooperation, guide every action and decision we make.

 Each passing year has seen a steady increase in the demand for our services, with an average of just over 1,000 emergency calls annually. Meeting this rising call volume while ensuring the consistency of our services would not be possible without the invaluable support we receive from the Mayor, city council, and, most importantly, you—the public we are honored to serve.

 In addition to the incredible backing from our city's leadership and citizens, we are grateful for the collaboration with our municipal partners, including public works and external agencies. This collaborative effort allows us to extend mutual aid support when needed, ensuring that we maintain the highest quality of services for our citizens during emergencies.

 The Metropolis Fire Department is unyielding in its commitment to life safety and property preservation. This commitment is upheld through continuous training and education for our dedicated team of professionals. It is their expertise, combined with the support of our community and partners, that enables us to stand resilient in the face of challenges.
