The Boil Water Order for Hospital Addition, Lindsay Addition, Hillcrest, Joshua Drive, Cedar Lane, and Hilanoa has been LIFTED.
Please see the image attached on what you should do now that it is lifted.
City of Metropolis is currently accepting applications for multiple seasonal jobs.
If interested, go to metropolisil.gov, click "Now Hiring", and check out the job descriptions.
You can apply online, print out the app, or pick up a paper app at City Hall.
Deadline to submit applications is March 31st.

There is currently a Boil Water Order for City of Metropolis customers around Hospital & Lindsey Additions. Please see the map to determine if you are included in this order. Crews are working on the leak and hope to have it resolved soon. The Boil Water Order will be lifted after bacteriological testing is complete.
It seems we have an 8" main break in the area by the hospital. Crews have been notified and are working to repair it. Residents in the surrounding areas may notice reduced water pressure. At this time there is not an ETA of repair completion. We will post updates when possible.

UPDATE--We will be shutting off sections of the City to repair the water main break.
Our Water Dept is battling a leak on 8th & Oak Streets near Southgate. It appears to be a 12" main break and residents may notice reduced water pressure or loss of service altogether. At this time there is not an ETA of repair completion. We will post updates when possible.

City Hall will be closed Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 10:45am to 12:15pm for training.
Bulldog has informed us that trash trucks will not be running tomorrow (Monday, Jan 6th) due to hazardous road conditions. They will resume pickup as soon as road conditions are safe.
Our Street crews are out throwing that salt to prepare for the possible ice/winter storm approaching! Give em a wave if you see them out. Let them know we appreciate them putting in the overtime to help keep us safe.
